Mike Francesa: Jets' Product Isn't NFL Worthy, Coaching Staff Should Be Embarrassed

Mike Francesa didn't hold anything back in the aftermath of the Jets' 31-6 loss to Philadelphia on Sunday.

Adam Gase fell to 0-4 since being named Jets' head coach. Quarterback Luke Falk threw two interceptions and was sacked 10 times, losing upwards of 59 yards as a result, throughout the disappointing loss. The Eagles defense struck twice for two touchdowns as New York sunk to the bottom of the AFC East.

"I refuse to talk about them until they re-enter the NFL," Francesa said. "What they are providing right now as a product is not even NFL worthy. If I were the owner, heads would roll."

The Jets have been outscored 101-13 through their first five weeks. It isn't nearly the result many expected to see when the offensive-minded Gase was brought in and Le'Veon Bell inked a four-year, $52.2 million deal with the team in March. The 10 sacks New York allowed in Week 5 is the most they've surrendered since 2012. Francesa blames the team's inability to fix the necessary areas prior to the season.

"If you cannot put a quarterback out there and I don't care what his name is, what little ability he has but he has a right to be protected," Francesa said. "If you cannot put a quarterback out there who can not expect to at least play then what are you doing? If I were a member of that coaching staff, if I were the head coach I'd be embarrassed to show my face with the product they are putting on.

"That's how bad the product they are putting on the field is. I understand they have injuries. I understand they don't have Sam (Darnold). I understand they don't have (CJ) Mosley. I understand they have issues, but they knew they had a bad offensive line coming into the season. They knew they had problems at corner, kicker and they let all three of those things fester in the season."

Francesa says the Jets' pass protection against the Eagles was "mortifying." Before Vyncint Smith ran 19 yards for the Jets' lone touchdown against Philadelphia, New York last scored an offensive touchdown in Week 1 — Bell's third quarter reception against the Bills. Luckily for the Jets, they're set to get some relief, as Darnold and Mosley are each nearing a return.

"But when you put a non-competitive product on the field where your quarterback gets hit 15 times, where he gets sacked eight times by four-man rushes," Francesa said. "When you're max protecting, you aren't even protective. 10 sacks in an NFL game, it's mortifying. If I were Adam Gase, I'd be afraid to show my face. I wouldn't take a paycheck. That's all I'm going to say about the Jets until they re-enter the NFL.

"That was not an NFL game. They have not played an NFL game in three games. They have not had a drive. It's just embarrassing. It's past embarrassing. It's not worth anybody's breath so we're done with the Jets."
