Solder Likely Out Until Training Camp After Ankle Surgery

Giants starting left tackle Nate Solder underwent arthroscopic ankle surgery Thursday to remove bone spurs, according to multiple reports.

The procedure is expected to keep Solder sidelined until the start of training camp, but the 31-year-old is expected to return to full health by the time camp begins towards the end of July.

New York signed the left tackle to a massive 4-year, $62 million contract last offseason, briefly making him the league's highest-paid offensive lineman.

Solder played every offensive snap for the Giants last season, working next to left guard Will Hernandez, who also played every offensive snap in 2018. While the veteran left tackle struggled a bit to start the season, he settled in nicely and graded out better in the second half of the campaign.

Solder and Hernandez combined to offer some stability to New York's otherwise tumultous offensive line, as the three other positions along the line saw quite a bit of turnover last year.

Following the re-signing of Jon Halapio, the trade for Kevin Zeitler and the recent signing of Mike Remmers, it appears as if Dave Gettleman's offensive line makeover is officially complete.
