As expected, Nets swingman Allen Crabbe is exercising the $18.5 million option on his contract for next season, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Friday.
Brooklyn Nets guard Allen Crabbe has exercised his $18.5M player option for the 2019-20 season, league sources tell ESPN.
— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) May 3, 2019Crabbe, 27, played in 43 games last season (20 starts) and averaged 9.6 points and 3.4 rebounds. He underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in early April and missed the Nets' playoff series against the Philadelphia 76ers.
There has been speculation in the media that the Nets would like to move Crabbe, their highest-paid player, in the offseason, but his salary will make that challenging.
The Nets acquired Crabbe in a July 2017 trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. A year earlier, the Nets signed Crabbe, then a restricted free agent, to a four-year, $75 million offer sheet, which Portland matched.
