The Jets' coaching staff is continuing to take shape under head coach Adam Gase. On Wednesday afternoon, the Jets hired former Dolphins offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

— New York Jets (@nyjets) January 23, 2019Loggains had interviewed for the Dolphins' head coaching position following Gase's departure. On Tuesday, Miami granted Loggains permission to speak with other teams.
Gase and Loggains worked together for the Miami Dolphins in 2018. Miami ranked 31st of 32 teams with 289.9 total yards per game and 26th with 19.9 points per game.
The duo previously worked together on the Chicago Bears' staff in 2015.
While Loggains was with the Bears, he was ranked by ESPN in 2017 as the league's worst offensive coordinator in the NFL. The Bears' offense ended the 2017 season averaging 16.5 points per game for 29th in the league.

Loggains was successful in transforming the career of Jay Cutler. Under Loggains' watch Cutler had one of his best seasons in 2015. He ended the year with 3,629 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and career-highs in passer rating (92.3) and completion percentage (64.4).
Jets fans will be hoping that Loggains can accelerate Sam Darnold in his sophomore season and get Gang Green's offense clicking.
The Jets finished 29th with 299.2 total yards per game and 23rd with 20.8 points per game in 2018.
