Looks like Yankees manager Aaron Boone may be a trendsetter. In more ways than one.

Boone, who served as an MLB analyst for ESPN, is endorsing his former colleague Eduardo Perez to be the newest New York Mets manager.

"I'm a huge fan,” Boone told SNY. “He's a guy that really knows the game. Really good at dealing with people. He's bilingual. I really think he's great candidate."

The Yankees skipper transitioned directly from the booth to first-time manager. Perez would be doing the same if he ends up in Flushing. The former player and current baseball analyst has had two interviews for the Mets job, one over the phone and one in person, according to SNY.

Perez is the son of Hall of Famer Tony Perez. Boone is the son of longtime catcher and manager Bob Boone.

Other known candidates to replace Mickey Callaway are former Yankees manager Joe Girardi, Diamondbacks Vice President of Player Development Mike Bell, Twins bench coach Derek Shelton and Mets quality control coach Luis Rojas.
