Looks like Yankees manager Aaron Boone may be a trendsetter. In more ways than one.
The Yankees skipper transitioned directly from the booth to first-time manager. Perez would be doing the same if he ends up in Flushing. The former player and current baseball analyst has had two interviews for the Mets job, one over the phone and one in person, according to SNY.
Perez is the son of Hall of Famer Tony Perez. Boone is the son of longtime catcher and manager Bob Boone.
Other known candidates to replace Mickey Callaway are former Yankees manager Joe Girardi, Diamondbacks Vice President of Player Development Mike Bell, Twins bench coach Derek Shelton and Mets quality control coach Luis Rojas.
