The Giants are paying Nate Solder a lot of money, but he hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations.

Solder signed as a free agent in March 2018 after spending the first seven years of his career with the Patriots, where he won two Super Bowls. He was productive in New England, but in New York he has been part of an offensive line that has struggled heavily at times.

Solder could now be on the trading block. According to a report from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Browns are interested in trading for Solder.

If the Browns are unable to pry Trent Williams out of Washington, the other LT I hear they are interested in is Nate Solder. They've already done a lot of business with the NYG, it's worth noting

These rumors come as Solder is only in the second year of a four-year, $62 million contract. The Giants could cut him before next season to save money, or they could opt to trade him mid-season, as Solder is on an expensive deal for an offensive lineman.

The Browns offensive line has had its issues this season. Adding Solder would give them another option to protect Baker Mayfield, who has been under pressure quite a bit this year.

Trent Williams is apparently Cleveland’s main target. According to this report, Solder is the back-up plan if the Browns are unable to acquire Williams from Washington.

Any deal will have to be completed before the NFL’s October 29 trade deadline.

The Giants and Browns have worked together recently. New York traded Odell Beckham Jr. to Cleveland this offseason for Jabrill Peppers and a first-round pick.
