The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly hiring former Packers coach Mike McCarthy, taking one high-profile option off the table for the Giants.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer was the first to report on the Cowboys' plans. NFL Network immediately confirmed the report.
The 56-year-old coach also interviewed with the Carolina Panthers and Cleveland Browns.
Other known candidates still in the running to replace the fired Pat Shurmur in New York are Baylor coach Matt Rhule, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, Cowboys defensive passing game coordinator Kris Richard, Ravens defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale and New England special teams coordinator Joe Judge.
