Knicks owner James Dolan was conspicuously silent on the George Floyd case, but one of his notable former employees isn't.
Former Knicks coach David Fizdale's wife, Natasha Sen, announced the couple was expecting their first child together in an Instagram post.
"During such a crazy year, Fiz and I at least had one miraculous, beautiful thing happen. We're having a boy"
Sen said she called it a miracle because she had long struggled with fertility. She acknowledged concerns about bringing a child into the world in fraught times, but said the turbulence was also cause for optimism of a better world.
"Seeing what is happening all around us right now, but pretty much has been going on forever, most would say I fear for my boy coming into this world. But, I think that this year is a monumental year... seeing so many people (of ALL races) come together to demand justice and change is inspiring to say the least and I am glad my boy will be born in this historic year."
Sen closed her post with the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag.
Fizdale was fired in December in his second year as Knicks head coach, after the team got off to a 4-18 start.
He recently wrote an opinion piece in The Undefeated saying he wanted to be a voice for the voiceless, and create a better world for his son Kyle and his unborn child.
Dolan's silence on Floyd and the subsequent unrest reportedly infuriated Knicks players and employees. He then explained the decision in a widely criticized internal email.
