How Giants' Joe Judge is Preparing for NFL Draft at Home with Golden Retriever

While the NFL Draft will be conducted remotely this year, Giants first-year head coach Joe Judge will have plenty of company by his side.

Judge revealed on Wednesday that he spends about 15 hours a day preparing for the draft in the basement of his North Attleboro, Mass. home alongside his golden retriever, Abby.

And as speculation swirls around whether the Giants will take linebacker Isaiah Simmons or one of the offensive lineman, Abby is the only one who really knows which direction the Giants are leaning toward.

"Right now she could probably tell you more about who we're gonna take in the first round than anybody else," Judge told reporters via a conference call on Wednesday.

Abby is not the only one who will be by Judge's side next Thursday night for the first round of the draft. Judge added that he spoke to his four children about possibly taking player name tags down from his wall in order to keep everything organized on draft night.

It is all part of an adjustment every NFL coach and executive is making as the league attempts to continue its offseason amid the coronavirus pandemic and following social distancing restrictions.

"So, everybody is adjusted. I think if the worst thing we're dealing with right now, to be honest with you, is working out of our basement, we've got it pretty good," Judge said. "There are a lot of people out there right now who don't have jobs to go to with the situation, there are police, fire department, nurses who leave their house every day and leaving their family behind and putting themselves out the to protect us.

"I think there are people we have to acknowledge with the right perspective, that have it a lot tougher than a bunch of football coaches trying to function getting ready for an offseason and a draft."
