Jed Lowrie’s debut with the Mets will have to wait a bit longer.

Lowrie has yet to play this season after he suffered a sprained knee in spring training, and now, when it seemed like he was close to a possible return from the injured list, he has suffered a setback.

The 35-year-old also has a hamstring strain and will miss another few weeks, according to Mickey Callaway.

“He told us after the games that he played in and we got him evaluated,” Callaway said. The Mets manager added that Lowrie is "down" as he wants to help the team but has been unable to so far.

Lowrie joined the Mets from the Oakland Athletics this summer when he signed a deal worth around $20 million over two years.

The Salem, Oregon, native put up career highs in home runs (23) and RBIs (99) last season, but injuries have kept him off the diamond for the first two months of this campaign.

Lowrie had been undergoing rehab in the minors before this setback. He will be reevaluated in a few weeks, which probably means he won’t be back until June at the earliest.
