Jeff Wilpon Says Mets Have Several 'Suitors' for Potential Sale

Mets COO Jeff Wilpon reportedly confirmed on Thursday night that the team "will have some kind of transaction" in a potential sale, but he couldn't yet say "how it's going to look."

Wilpon was asked at a non-Mets event whether the team was on the block, according to Yaron Weitzman of Bleacher Reporter.

"We're working toward a transaction, and there's four or five suitors that are out there to do something with," Wilpon responded.

Wilpon didn't explain who the suitors were.

Earlier this week it was reported that the owners of the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Devils, Josh Harris and David Blitzer were seriously interested in buying the Mets.

They became only the latest rumored buyers in the Mets' monthslong sale saga. A reported deal with hedge fund billionaire Steve Cohen fell apart in February. More recently, a reported push by Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez to secure additional financial backing for a potential offer appeared to lose steam after a couple weeks.
