The Jets have reportedly picked up a sizable reinforcement for their offensive line.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Josina Anderson, the Jets have an agreement with the Oakland Raiders to acquire offensive lineman Kelechi Osemele.

Raiders have an agreement in principle to trade G Kelechi Osemele to the NY Jets, sources tell @josinaanderson and me. Trade cannot be processed until Weds, but two sides have agreement in place. Another Raiders’ trade.

Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune is reporting that the Jets are sending a fifth-round pick to the Raiders in the deal. Oakland will also send a sixth-round pick to New York with Osemele.

Osemele is a 6-foot-5 guard who has spent seven years in the NFL. He began his career with the Baltimore Ravens after they used a second round pick to draft him out of Iowa State. Osemele has been with the Raiders since he signed a five-year $60 million contract with them in March of 2016.

The 29-year-old Houston, Texas native was selected to the Pro Bowl in his first two seasons in Oakland.

Osemele has had a few injury issues. He missed most of the 2013 season after undergoing back surgery.

The Jets clearly want to place more of an emphasis on their offensive line, and on protecting franchise quarterback Sam Darnold. Help on the line is needed, especially after the team released Spencer Long in February.
