On WFAN, Maccaganan Responds To Report About Being On Hot Seat

By WFAN.com

Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said he wasn't rattled by a report last week that his job was in jeopardy.

One report said Maccagnan was "on the hot seat internally" and that many in the league expected changes in the Jets' front office to be made after the draft. Other reports have said there's already friction between Maccagnan and new head coach Adam Gase.

But three days after the draft, Maccagnan is still employed on 1 Jets Drive, and in an interview Tuesday with WFAN's "Boomer and Gio" show, the Jets GM insisted his relationship with Gase is strong.

"That report came out in the media, but that's nothing that we were like really focused on," Maccagnan said. "We were obviously focused on our job and taking care of the draft.

"I have a very good working relationship with Adam. I've had a very good relationship with (CEO) Christopher Johnson and the Jets organization. Those are things, again, you work in a very high-profile job, there's stuff in the media that gets reported, you really know what goes on inside your own building, and that's what you're focused on."

Maccagnan added that he likes Gase's approach and how "we work together."

"Like anything, there's always going to be disagreements on things," he said. "But that's a natural thing in your process, but you work through that. And, I think, in the end, you're always focused on what's in the best interest of the team and how you move forward."
