Jets' Le'Veon Bell Says NFL Drug Testing Isn't Random, Won't Take Any More Tests This Season

If he wanted to, Le'Veon Bell could complain about quite a lot that has happened during the 2019 season so far.

It's Bell's first year back in action after he sat out the entirety of 2018, but things haven't gone to plan for the running back or for his new team. The Jets are 3-7 even after winning two games in a row, and Bell hasn't put up big numbers as he has had to run behind a below average offensive line.

It seems like Bell also has something to complain about off the field. The outspoken running back took to Twitter on Wednesday to complain about the drug testing the NFL has been administering to him this season.

I done had 5 "random" HGH blood test in 10 weeks...@NFL I'm not doing another after today, whatever y'all lookin for it obviously ain't there & I'm not about to keep allowing y'all to stick me with those dirty ass needles..find the players who really do that HGH BS & get off me..

Bell might have a point. He is hardly the first player to make this sort of complaint about the NFL's supposedly random drug testing.

Odell Beckham Jr. complained about having to undergo frequent and invasive drug testing after his Browns beat the Steelers 21-7 on Thursday night. Beckham has voiced similar concerns on a few different occasions. Last year, Carolina safety Eric Reid accused the league of targeting him for repeated drug tests due to his vocal support of Colin Kaepernick's national anthem protests against police brutality.

Bell was initially suspended for four games in 2015 when he was arrested for possession of marijuana, but that suspension was later reduced to two games, and these tests are looking for performance enhancers, not recreational drugs.

No one should doubt Bell's conviction after his final season with the Steelers, but the running back may find himself being disciplined by the league if he really does refuse to take any more drug tests in the future.

In 10 games with the Jets this season, Bell has scored 4 touchdowns and rushed for 508 yards on 161 attempts. He'll try to add to those totals when New York plays the Raiders this coming Sunday.
