The Jets are reportedly moving on from high-priced cornerback Trumaine Johnson.

The team has informed Johnson that he will be released before March 20, when his $11 million salary would have become guaranteed, the Daily News' Manish Mehta reported Monday. Other media outlets have since confirmed the report.

If the NFL's proposed collective bargaining agreement is approved by the players this week, the Jets would have the option of spreading Johnson's $12 million cap hit over two years. Otherwise, the entire amount will be applied toward the team's 2020 salary cap.

Gang Green signed the former Rams cornerback to a five-year, $72.5 million contract in March 2018. But Johnson's time in New York was largely disappointing. He briefly lost his starting job last season and was placed on season ending-injured reserve in early November due to injuries to both ankles.

In 2018, he dealt with a lingering quad injury and was suspended for the season finale after missing team meetings and practice.

In his two seasons with the Jets, Johnson played in 17 games (15 starts), registering five interceptions and 65 tackles.
