Henderson was a transgender woman, and Bullock has done advocacy work with the LGBTQ community in her memory. After news broke of Moore’s death, Bullock went on Twitter to express his desire to lead in the fight against the epidemic of gun violence in the United States.
The Knicks released a statement about Bullock’s loss, which included condolences for Dennis Smith Jr. Smith Jr’s stepmother passed away suddenly on Sunday. Both players are away from the team at the moment.
“Our Knicks family is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Reggie Bullock & Dennis Smith Jr’s close family members,” said team president Steve Mills. “At times like this, we are reminded that life is bigger than basketball. Our thoughts are with them & their families."
Bullock has yet to make his debut for the Knicks. He signed as a free agent this summer, but then underwent surgery for a herniated disk the next day.
