The New York Giants are reportedly giving wide receiver Corey Coleman another shot.
Coleman agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Giants, the team confirmed on Monday. The 25-year-old didn't play at any point during the 2019 season due to a season-ending ACL injury. New York also inked running back Dion Lewis, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.
In July, Coleman sustained a torn ACL during the first day of Giants' training camp. The former Baylor University carried lofty expectations from the moment he was the first wide receiver selected at 2016 NFL Draft. He battled of slew of injuries that plagued his time in Cleveland, leading to an eventual trade.
Two years removed from the draft, Coleman found himself in New York. He caught five passes for 75 yards in his first season before the freak accident. He was in contention for a starting role in the Giants' offense at the time of his injury.
After being forced to watch the entire season from the sideline, Coleman sought another chance to play in the NFL.
"At the end of the day, you have to look in the mirror and I know what I'm capable of," Coleman told ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "I know my talent. Be myself. Work hard and come compete every day. I love this game of football and I have a lot in the tank."
Raanan projected Coleman to receive interest from multiple teams during free agency. He ultimately settled on a one-year "prove it" deal with the Giants. Terms of Coleman's contract have yet to be revealed. He earned a base salary of $725,000 last season.
Lewis, three years removed from rushing for a career-high 896 yards, was versatile and reliable in New England's passing and rushing game.
