A day removed from agreeing to terms with offensive tackle George Fant, general manager Joe Douglas continued to prioritize the Jets' offensive line on Tuesday.

The Jets reportedly signed guard Alex Lewis to a three-year deal worth $18.6 million. Lewis will receive nearly $3 million in guarantees, according to WFAN and New York Post reproter Brian Costello

New York acquired Lewis from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for a 2020 seventh-round draft pick last offseason. The 27-year-old appeared in 15 games during his first season with New York, starting in the final 13 games and playing 100% of snaps in place of the injured Kelechi Osemele.

Lewis' contract carries an annual average salary of $6.2 million compared to the $2.025 million he earned in 2019. With the addition of Fant, who signed for three years and $30 million, and the retention of Lewis, Douglas addressed a significant void on the offensive line.

Offensive linemen Kelvin Beachum and Brandon Shell are still without new deals and there's little indication if both players would return to the Jets next season. Quarterback Sam Darnold was sacked 33 times last season — third most in the AFC East. Douglas focused on Darnold's safety next season as his main priority throughout the legal tampering period.
