It would be an understatement to say that the New York Giants season has not gone according to plan. Pat Shurmur’s team sits at the bottom of the NFC East with a 1-6 record after another heartbreaking loss last Monday.

A trip to the playoffs is unlikely, and it seems the club itself has realized that. Since the loss to Atlanta on Monday Night Football, general manager Dave Gettelman has traded away Eli Apple and Damon “Snacks” Harrison.

Other departures could follow before Tuesday’s trade deadline, but don’t expect Odell Beckham Jr to be one of those dealt. On Thursday, one of the Giants’ most prized assets gave an assurance that, for the moment, he isn’t going anywhere.

"I don't really know," Beckham said Thursday when he was asked if he still would have re-signed with the Giants had he known a bad start was coming. "It's not really re-sign ... I could have been here for another three years. It's hard to think about now and it's really irrelevant to think about now because I'm here and I will be here."

The Giants' wide receiver was also asked about how he felt about the team after seeing Harrison and Apple traded away.

"It's a business. As hard as waking up and seeing some of those things are, it's the business side of all this. All we can do is keep going and keep playing with who we have in here."

Beckham, who turns 26 in November, just signed a five-year, $95 million contract extension with the Giants in August. He has pulled more than his fair share of the weight this season and has shown frustration at times on the sidelines during defeats. He also hasn’t been afraid to criticize his team publicly and behind closed doors, something which got him some criticism from Giants’ owner John Mara.

Earlier this month Beckham gave a controversial interview to ESPN in which he voiced his frustration about the organization and the offense, with some of the comments coming across as possible shots at Eli Manning. The team reportedly fined Beckham for the remarks, and there haven't been any visible issues since, but it's unclear what is bubbling under the surface.

These quotes Thursday suggest that the Giants’ star receiver should still be on the roster when the trade deadlines comes and goes, but next year could be another story.
