The Rangers on Saturday night traded winger Mats Zuccarello, one of their top players and a fan favorite at Madison Square Garden, to the Dallas Stars for two conditional draft picks.

The Blueshirts are receiving a second-round selection this year that would become a first-rounder if the Stars win two playoff rounds and a third-round pick in 2020 that would become a first-round selection if Zuccarello, who is set to hit free agency this summer, re-signs with Dallas, the New York Post reported.

The trade came two days before the NHL's trade deadline.

The Rangers now own four picks in the first two rounds of this year's draft.

Zuccarello, 31, had played his entire nine-year career with New York and led the Rangers in points in four of the past five seasons before this year. Skating in 509 games, he registered 113 goals and 239 assists for 352 points. In 46 contests this season, Zuccarello has 11 goals and 26 points (37 points).

After Saturday's 5-2 win over the Devils, the Rangers are 27-26-8 (62 points) and only ahead of New Jersey in the Metropolitan Division. New York held Zuccarello out of Saturday's game.
