Sal goes off on Rangers after game five loss: 'Every freaking year it's the same thing!'

Sal Licata opened Thursday night's show with a much different tone than he did after the Rangers rocked the Devils in game two.

Three straight losses can have that effect. Now, after declaring a sweep, Sal is back to a painful familiarity with his Rangers fandom.

"Every freaking year it is the same thing!" Sal said. "I apologize for thinking this series was over. I am an idiot. How can I get involved with the Rangers and trust them, even after witnessing those first two games at The Rock? The Rangers looked like a Stanley Cup team in those first two games. Since? They have looked like the perennial losers that they are, and I am tired of it.

"Can't get a goal of this backup stiff, are you kidding me?"

Given how inept the Blueshirts have looked in three straight playoff losses, Sal isn't exactly excited to be going to Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, when the Rangers will be fighting off elimination in game six.

"Boy, I can't wait to take my nephew Saturday night and see what's in store for us!" Sal said sarcastically. "We drop basically a grand to get in the building. You gotta be kidding me! This is unacceptable from the Rangers."

Something has to change, but Sal doesn't know where the spark will come from, because everyone on the ice outside of Igor Shesterkin has been looking lifeless.

"You cannot lose this series. Who is coming through with the guarantee? Because No. 11 isn't coming through that door," Sal said, longing for Mark Messier. "I know it's not gonna be [Artemi] Panarin. I'm tired of watching him dance around on skates…[Patrick] Kane? Washed!"
