The Giants have reportedly engaged in talks about trading away former first-round pick Ereck Flowers.

Citing unnamed sources, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on the discussions Tuesday, saying the "belief is the new staff will be able to trade him for draft compensation." Rapoport did not say which teams might be interested.

The #Giants have had trade discussions centered around former first-round OT Ereck Flowers, sources say. He has stayed away from voluntary workouts, and the belief is the new staff will be able to trade him for draft compensation. Could be a fresh start for all sides.

The Giants drafted the offensive tackle with the ninth overall pick in 2015 out of Miami. The 6-foot-6, 325-pound Flowers, however, has struggled in his three seasons with New York. He will turn just 24 years old Wednesday.

The Giants signed former Patriots left tackle Nate Solder in free agency last month and planned to move Flowers from left tackle to right tackle.

Flowers was the lone no-show when the Giants' offseason program began April 9.

Flowers is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Trading him would free up $2.4 million in cap space, according to OverTheCap.com.
