Last week, Trae Young's father, Ray, told the New York Daily News that his son would be a great fit in New York due to the spotlight the city's big market creates.

It seems as if the Knicks agree.

Multiple league sources say New York is interested in drafting the point guard out of Oklahoma in next month's NBA Draft, according to Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

The Knicks met with Young on Friday.

Young was fantastic in his lone season with the Sooners, finishing the year as the NCAA Division I scoring and assists leader with averages of 27.4 points and 8.7 assists per game. His performance earned him a spot on the 2018 Consensus All-America team.

The 6-foot-2 point guard shot 42.2 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from the three-point line, adding 1.7 steals per game.

Young was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year, while also making the First-team All-Big 12. In addition, he was the recipient of the Wayman Tisdale Award, given to college basketball's most outstanding freshman player by the United States Basketball Writers Association.

While selecting Young would allow the Knicks to use last year's first round pick Frank Ntilikina as the 2-guard, it remains to be seen whether or not the former Sooner will be available for New York at no. 9. Both Orlando (no. 6) and Cleveland (no. 8) need point guards and have also been connected to Young.

The 2018 NBA Draft will take place at the Barclays Center on June 21.
