Report: Billionaire Reuben Brothers Exploring Bid To Buy Mets

Add in another potential pair of suitors for the New York Mets.

According to Sportico's Scott Soshnick, billionaire brothers David and Simon Reuben, who have a combined net worth of nearly $14 billion thanks to real estate and technology ventures, are exploring a bid to buy the Mets.

The London-based Reuben brothers, according to Soshnick's sources, are "likely drawn to the team because of the real estate development possibilities around Citi Field."

They are also are reportedly part of a group engaged in talks to purchase the English Premier League team Newcastle United, and a pair of purchases could make them two more members of a small fraternity of owners with shares in both an EPL team and a major American sports franchise – a group that also includes another potential Mets suitor in Joshua Harris, who is the majority owner of the Sixers and Devils as well as EPL's Crystal Palace.

For now, add their names to the list of potential buyers that already includes Harris and the much-discussed consortium fronted by Alex Rodriguez.
