The Yankees' home opener has been snowed out.

The team announced Monday morning that the game against the Tampa Bay Rays, originally scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Monday, will now be played at 4:05 p.m. Tuesday, which was to be an off day for both teams.

A National Weather Service forecast had called for 2 to 4 inches of snow in the Bronx on Monday morning, but as of 7 a.m. it said a heavy band of snow had been dropping 1 to 2 inches per hour on the region through 10 a.m.

The Mets later announced their home game against the Philadelphia Phillies, which was slate to begin at 7:10 p.m. Monday, has been rescheduled as part of a single-admission doubleheader on July 9.

Travel around the area also is difficult, with roads becoming covered by snow and visibilities down to a quarter-mile.

The Yankees and Rays might also have a hard time getting Tuesday's makeup game in as well. There's a 90 percent chance of rain that afternoon, as well as on Wednesday, when the teams are scheduled to play the second and final game of the series.

The Yankees split their season-opening, four-game series at Toronto. The Mets opened their season by winning two of three against the St. Louis Cardinals at Citi Field.
