There seems to be an interest in Matt Harvey to take the mound again – at least overseas.

According to MLB Insider Jon Heyman, teams in both Korea and Japan have been looking at the 31-year-old former Mets star.

On Friday, there was a report that Harvey was interested in playing in the KBO, and that interest now appears mutual with Japan also added to the list.

Harvey, who was released by the Angels last July and is unable to find an MLB team interested in him, has been trying to figure out a way to make a comeback.

WFAN's Boomer Esiason said on Monday that Harvey had reached out to the Mets, and that the Mets would consider, but because negotiations for a 2020 MLB season are in limbo it would appear less likely Harvey would sign with a major league team.

Instead, his best option may be somewhere in Japan or Korea, where baseball has resumed in those countries as they recover from the coronavirus pandemic that has shut down sports in most of the world.

This past Saturday also marked the 10th anniversary of the Mets drafting Harvey, who burst onto the scene his rookie season in 2013.

After pitching beyond his innings limit in 2015 following Tommy John surgery — which he recently said he does not regret — the right-hander was never the same and is now struggling to get back onto the mound.
