Yankees Clear Aaron Judge For Batting Practice

Aaron Judge's injury doesn't seem to be a real concern, which is great news for the Yankees.

Judge didn't take part in batting practice on Tuesday because of a minor issue with his right shoulder. On Thursday, Yankees manager Aaron Boone gave an update on his slugger, and he mentioned that Judge has been cleared to hit again.

"(Judge) threw again today, went well," Boone told reporters. "I think he threw out a little further today; expect him to start his hitting program and ramp it up tomorrow. He'll be in the cage, probably hitting off the tee, soft toss, doing what he does; feel good about where he's at."

The Yankees are down in Tampa, Florida as spring training gets underway around Major League Baseball. Between James Paxton and Luis Severino, the team has recently received some bad news on the injury front, so the good news on Judge will be especially welcome.

Opening Day for New York isn't until March 28, but Judge will be trying to avoid missing as much time due to injuries as he has in the last couple seasons. In 2019, Judge was on the injured list for two months because of an oblique strain, and it took him some time to get back into his groove when he did return to health.

Injuries hit the Yankees all over the diamond last year, but they were able to weather the storm because of the depth of their roster. Boone and company will certainly want to avoid having to be so resourceful this season, especially as they are considered the favorites in the American League.
