Free agency is less than a week away, and as June 30th rapidly approaches, the rumors will continue to circulate.
The latest report states that the Nets are interested in signing center DeAndre Jordan in hopes that it will further help convince Kevin Durant to sign with Brooklyn, according to The New York Times' Marc Stein and the New York Daily News' Stefan Bondy.
Jordan and Durant are close friends. The Nets hope that adding the big man to the team's current young core, in addition to signing Kyrie Irving, will be enough to entice the injured superstar to sign a max deal with Brooklyn.
The 6-foot-11 center was traded to the Knicks this past season in the deal that sent Kristaps Porzingis to Dallas. While many expected New York to buy-out the remaining few months on the big man's contract, the Knicks kept Jordan in hopes that they could re-sign him and use that to convince Durant to join the team.
Irving has been strongly linked to the Nets recently, with numerous reporters stating that the 6-time All-Star point guard is leaning heavily towards signing with Brooklyn.
Irving and Durant have been close friends since playing together on the U.S. national team. The two have met twice in recent weeks to discuss their mutual desire to sign with the same team, according to Bleacher Report's Ric Bucher.
With reports of Durant recently purchasing a new home in New York, many around the league expect the Nets and Knicks to be the favorites to land the talented pair of players.
Free agency has yet to officially begin, but things are already beginning to look bright for the Brooklyn Nets.
