The Giants seem to be on the verge of yet another offseason distraction.

The recent buzz surrounding Big Blue and Landon Collins is that the team could choose to place the franchise tag on the safety.

Well, according to multiple reports citing sources familiar with Collins' situation, if given the tag, Collins would refrain from signing it until at least after the offseason workout program and spring minicamps are over, and could even wait until the start of the regular season.

Collins reportedly has no interest in playing a season under the tag.

If tagged, the 25-year-old safety would receive approximately $11.2 million for the 2019 season.

Talks on a long-term deal have been nonexistent, according to multiple reports, which has led New York's top defensive playmaker to grow frustrated with the team that selected him in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

The three-time Pro Bowler has indicated that he would prefer to remain with the Giants, but the lack of communication between the two sides indicates the feeling may not be mutual.

New York has until March 5 to make a decision on using the franchise tag.
