Tebow Time won't end in 2018.

The Mets are expecting outfielder Tim Tebow back in 2019, assistant general manager John Ricco told Newsday. Ricco added that he hasn't given the organization any reason to believe otherwise.

2019 would make it Tebow's third season of professional baseball. The former NFL quartertback and ESPN college football analyst had his 2018 baseball season end in late July, when a broken hamate bone in his right hand required surgery. Tebow showed much improvement from 2017 to 2018, hitting .273 with six homers and 36 RBIs in 84 games this year.

Tebow was coming into his own in June and July at double-A Binghamton, hitting. 317 with a .348 OBP and .429 slugging percantage in those months. The former Jets backup QB even made it to the Eastern League All-Star Game in July.

As part of a standard minor-league contract, Tebow remains under team control and doesn't need to formally re-up. He stands to start the year with Triple-A Syracuse, which is owned and operated by the Mets.
