While the Yankees have won six straight games, they also have 13 players on the injured list. Outfielder Clint Frazier joined that list Wednesday with an ankle injury. With all the injuries, especially to their outfield, the Yankees have acquired outfielder Cameron Maybin from the Indians for cash considerations, the team announced Thursday.

Maybin was signed to a major league contract and selected to the 25-man roster. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Yankees transferred Luis Severino the 60-day IL.

Maybin, 32, was playing at triple-A Columbus after he was released by the Giants during spring training. He's hitting just .216 with five RBIs in 14 games so far this year in triple-A. Maybin hit .249 last season in 129 games for the Mariners and Marlins. He's played for nine teams since making his debut in 2007 and is a career .254 hitter.

With injuries to Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Aaron Hicks and Frazier, that leaves the potential for Maybin to get a chance in the Bronx as a backup. The Yankees are currently going with Brett Gardner, Mike Tauchman and Tyler Wade in the outfield.
