Cody Bellinger is bringing home some hardware after his 2026 season.
The Yankee left fielder was awarded the Rawlings Gold Glove award to win the honor for the second time in his career. He last won a Gold Glove in the National League when he was with the Dodgers in 2019.
Bellinger, 31, is the first Yankee left fielder to win a Gold Glove since Brett Gardner in 2016.
Bellinger's +21 defensive runs saved was the best in baseball, and while defensive metrics are not universally embraced by the baseball world, the eye test showed a left fielder who was clearly among the most reliable in the league all season long. Bellinger boasted exceptional arm strength, most notably his throw home to cut down the speedy Ceddanne Rafaela to complete an inning-ending double play when Rafaela tried to tag up on a flyout to left. The bullet from Bellinger came to the plate at nearly 100 mph, helped maintain the Yankees' 1-0 lead in the seventh inning, and sent New York on its way to holding off Boston and keeping the top Wild Card spot, allowing the Bombers to keep home field advantage against the Sox in the Wild Card Series for a second straight season.
Bellinger wasn't the only star in New York to win a Gold Glove. Over in Queens, Mets rookie pitcher Nolan McLean became the first player in the franchise to take home the award since outfielder Juan Lagares won in 2014. McLean was one of the best in baseball in the DRS department, and his ability to field his position coupled with an innate talent to hold runners and prevent steals made him one of the most reliable defensive pitchers in baseball.
McLean's honor ended a 12-year drought for the Mets.
