Yankees Add CC Sabathia To Injured List With Knee Inflammation

By WFAN.com

It's now the oldest Yankees' turn to have a stint on the injured list.

On Thursday morning, the team announced that CC Sabathia had been placed on the 10-day IL due to right knee inflammation. This comes after Sabathia allowed four earned runs in five innings of pitching against the Orioles on Wednesday night. He seemed to be struggling with something.

Prior to today's game, the Yankees placed LHP CC Sabathia on the 10-day IL with right knee inflammation.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone hinted that this move could be coming after the game in Baltimore. He said that Sabathia's knee had been "barking" over his last couple starts and that it was "something we'll probably have to talk about."

Knee issues are nothing new for Sabathia. He has dealt with them over the past couple seasons and underwent surgery in his right knee back in October.

The 38-year-old pitcher began the season on the IL as he was still recovering from offseason heart surgery.

He has been solid for New York this year despite his age. Sabathia had a 3-1 record with a 3.48 ERA before this placement on the injured list.

The Yankees and Orioles conclude their series this afternoon in Baltimore.
