TAMPA, Fla. (WFAN) -- Adam Lind's tenure with the Yankees was a short one.
On Wednesday, the team announced it has released the veteran first baseman/outfielder from the minor league contract he signed March 2.
Lind had been brought in to provide depth behind first baseman Greg Bird, who missed all of the 2016 season and the better part of four months last season with injuries.

This week's signing of Neil Walker may have made Lind expendable. General manager Brian Cashman told WFAN that Walker, who has played predominantly at second base, could serve as a backup at first base as well.
A longtime Toronto Blue Jay, Lind, 34, has bounced around the big leagues in recent years. With the Washington National last season, he batted .303 with 14 homers and 59 RBIs in 116 games.
He was 3-of-15 (.200) with no homers and one RBI in spring training games this year.
