America is going to be reintroduced to the New York Jets this season.
The blockbuster trade for Aaron Rodgers assured that the Jets will have several high-profile games on their schedule, and that could start as early as Week 1.
NFL insider Brian Baldinger of the Audacy Original Podcast “In The Huddle” talked about the national appeal the Jets now have and what their opening game could be.
“I’m hearing it could be Jets-Giants Monday night opening up the season,” Baldinger said (11:30 in player above). “They’re going to attract National TV. The schedule’s crazy: Dallas, Kansas City, Philly. I mean it’s big. But there’s Aaron Rodgers in the middle of it.”
Rodgers has been a national name for quite some time given his four MVP awards and status as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.
The Jets haven’t had this much appeal in over a decade, and the NFL is going to take advantage of a top-tier player in the biggest market in America.
“You know what showtime’s all about. They don’t have to go looking for storylines. It’s staring right there at them,” Baldinger continued. “This deal was important to get done before the schedule came out because the Jets had one National TV game last year against Jacksonville on Thursday night. It was a disaster. Aaron will be featured with that team quite a bit.”
That Thursday night game against the Jaguars was absolutely disastrous. The Jets managed just three points as they lost their third game in a row.
However, that should change in the upcoming season with Rodgers leading a pretty strong team that may have just been missing a star quarterback.
The 2023 NFL schedule is expected to be unveiled on Thursday, May 11th.
