Don't ya just hate small talk?
Gregg Giannotti sure does, especially when it comes to dining out, and he was happy to share that thought in today's Audio Goodness sponsored by Ford.
"One thing I hope continues post-pandemic is Plexiglas between people at bars," Gio said. "Not that it works in stopping germ spread, but boy do I love my own little enclosed situation at the bar."
Gio enjoys sitting at the bar while going out to eat…but he doesn't love the "balloon heads" he has to interact with while doing so.
"I don't look at this like 'hey, I'm safe if this guy is sick,' I was like, 'this is awesome!'" Gio said. "I don't have to have an awkward elbow situation while I'm eating my soup, or pretend to care when his jacket falls on the floor!"
Where Gio sees personal happiness, Boomer sees business opportunity.
"I would want a piece of the Plexiglas business these days," Boomer chimed in, "or maybe a lumber yard with all these lean-tos being built out in the streets. Patio heaters, too…it's one thing eating outside in Vail and seeing the mountains, it's another seeing mountains of garbage in NYC!"
And then, Gio gave new meaning to the term we often use in sports talk radio to describe the positions of the producers and engineers, "on the other side of the glass."
"My friend even ignored somebody purposely on the other side, because he felt like he could," Gio said. "This guy tried to jump into the conversation, and my friend just ignored him! And when the guy left, I said, 'did you hear him?' and he said, 'I did, but I felt like with the Plexiglas, I could just ignore him.'"
An epiphany for Gio.
"I said, 'that's great, another win – no small talk!'"
