Gio has an unorthodox but surprisingly on point comparison for Lightning radio play-by-play announcer Dave Mishkin.
The source of that comparison is Wednesday's Moment of the Day.
Gio pointed out how Mishkin, who is currently announcing Tampa Bay's Eastern Conference Finals series with the Islanders, can go from calm to crazed in a matter of moments depending on what is unfolding on the ice, and it reminded him of Sister Mary Elephant, a comedy skit by Cheech & Chong.
"There was this woman, Sister Mary Elephant, where it was like Dave Mishkin," Gio explained. "There was this skit where she'd be talking to her class and say 'OK class, everybody calm down. OK, everybody.' And you hear all the kids getting louder and louder, and all of a sudden you hear 'SHUT UP!' That's what Dave Mishkin is."
In the skit, Sister Mary Elephant goes from zero to 100 in scary quick fashion, which isn't much different than Mishkin, which the rest of the crew realized when Jerry Recco played the sound bites side by side, sending Boomer into hysterics.
Gio was just grateful he had that comparison locked away in an unknown vault.
"That's a bizarre reference, but that's exactly what it is," Gio said. "Somewhere in my brain, that got dusted off."
