The Holiday season is one of giving, and while Giving Tuesday may have come and gone, that doesn’t mean helping others is on the back burner.

On Friday’s Boomer & Gio Show, Boomer Esiason told the story of Colleen, an employee at the Home Depot in his hometown of East Islip that is in danger of losing her home due to mounting medical bills incurred taking care of her mother. Colleen is autistic, and has worked at Home Depot for 23 years and mastered everything she needs to live a fruitful life – but losing her home could be a devastating blow to Colleen’s independence.

Boomer was introduced to Colleen’s story by Susan Paladino, a fellow Home Depot employee, and Boomer wanted to help one of East Islip’s own. He reached out to several contacts to see how he could help, and that led him to Joe Winters of Winters Brothers, a frequent WFAN sponsor and a company that also runs the Winters Center for Autism.

The Winters Center has set up a donation page to try to help Colleen, and Boomer has promised to match the first $25,000 donated (as of this writing, that's a go, with more than $80K raised so far).

If you can and would like to help Boomer help Colleen, you can make your donation on the Winters Center’s FlipCause page here: https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/MTAzNjk5.

“It’s my hometown, and a woman who needs our help. Her story was brought to me by Susan Paladino, the angel who is watching out for Colleen in this,” Boomer said on Friday’s show. “This is a very, very difficult thing. But getting Joe Winters involved so I can make sure this happens correctly, along with the attorney who is basically doing this gratis, and the court clerks…hopefully it will alleviate some of the stress Colleen is dealing with. They’ve already raised $11,000, and we need to blow this away to give her a chance to live a relatively normal life in her house in East Islip.”

You can listen to all of the talk about Colleen (including Susan’s call in to WFAN) below in today’s Boomer & Gio podcast, and please help us help Colleen!
