The Mets played sloppily all weekend and still swept the Athletics, even as the SNY broadcasters had to move booths due to incontinent wildlife and no one in Oakland actually came to see it.
But, that entire statement above is indicative, at least to BT, of how much of “an embarrassment” the Athletics are to Major League Baseball…and he had a ridiculous idea Monday on how to make it worse.
“You know what I would honestly do if I owned the A’s?” BT asked. “I’d give a big finger to MLB and have a promotion to get like 30,000 people in the stadium: pull one random ticket, and you get to be on roster in uniform for the next game.”
Okay, so that’s not going to happen, at least unless the 92-year-old granny BT posited would win broke her arm like Henry Rowengartner, but Tiki’s idea of “honorary coach” might work…to help get the Athletics out of Oakland.
“What they’ve allowed to happen to that proud baseball franchise is beyond description. It is pitifully painful to even flip on a game and see that stadium, which is the worst,” BT said. “But just say to them get me to Nashville or Vegas or Charlotte, or I’m going to make a further mockery of this and have fans play for my team!”
Somehow, Tiki doesn’t believe Oakland Coliseum is the worst venue he’s ever see, for he has played at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia – still worse even if BT said The Vet looked like “St. Patrick’s Cathedral next to the Coliseum.”
“The thing about the Vet was it was dangerous,” Tiki said, obviously thinking of Bears receiver Wendell Davis tearing up both knees on that turf among other incidents. “There were holes in the walls, and you honestly felt like the locker room was going to fall down, too.”
The Eagles and Phillies at least got new stadiums in this millennium…but BT had one last bad thought on Oakland.
“Can you imagine getting drafted by that team? Yuck,” BT laughed. “Could you imagine, like, Anthony Volpe getting drafted by the A’s and having to go there? Yeah you’re still a professional player, but that’s just disheartening.”
