C-Mac loses it on callers diminishing Shohei Ohtani's standing among baseball's greatest

C-Mac has consistently feuded with callers who dismissed Shohei Ohtani’s current run as the greatest any baseball player has ever had, and he blew a gasket on callers dismissing Ohtani’s accomplishments on Wednesday morning.

Bob in Bayside started by pointing out other hitters like Wade Boggs and Tony Gwynn having higher batting averages and lower strikeout rates, and C-Mac grew tired of the argument for players of previous generations who couldn’t pitch.

“How many times did Wade Boggs hit 40 home runs? How many times did Wade Boggs hit .340, and then turn around and be the hardest pitcher to get a hit against in Major League Baseball?” C-Mac said. “Shohei Ohtani was the hardest pitcher to get a hit against in the American League, and he hit 40 home runs.

“If Wade Boggs played today, he’d strike out 100 times. He didn’t face relievers coming out of the bullpen throwing 100 mph. he faced the same pitcher 3-4 times. Same with Joe DiMaggio.”

Kyrie in Livingston was next up, arguing that Ohtani isn’t the best because he isn’t the best hitter in baseball or the best pitcher, which C-Mac found to be ludicrous.

“You make it sound like that’s a winning argument…he’s top 10 in both!” C-Mac said. “What do you possibly mean?? That’s like saying a guy who is the second best scorer in the NBA and the second best defender in the NBA isn’t the best because he’s not the best at both.”
