C-Mac says the longer the Yoshinobu Yamamoto sweepstakes wear on, the more strongly he feels that the Japanese star is waiting for the right deal from the team he has wanted all along.
“I told you why I think it’s taking so long,” C-Mac said. “He’s waiting for the Yankees to pony up, and he’s holding the Mets hostage.
“I don’t think he wants to go to the Mets, but right now, that’s his highest offer. That’s my Yankee-centric opinion.”
If C-Mac’s prediction comes true, and Yamamoto picks the Yankees (or even the Dodgers) over the Mets, he doesn’t want to hear any backpedalling from Mets fans who will call the outcome anything but a massive failure.
“I don’t want to hear from anybody this sudden belief that the Mets don’t need him, don’t want him, and that it won’t be a big deal, they’ll just pivot,” C-Mac said. “Absolute crap. The Mets need Yamamoto. This owner, Steve Cohen, needs Yamamoto…if they lose him to the Yankees or Dodgers, despite offering the most amount of money, anything short of bringing Yamamoto to Queens is an absolute disaster.”
