The Devils seem to get stronger the farther away they are from home.
New Jersey began its west coast road swing late Friday night, dismantling the struggling Ducks with a 6-2 victory, one that saw the red-hot Jack Hughes net two more goals in a dominant overall performance.
The victory was the 16th road win for the Devils on the season, making them the first team in NHL history to reach that many wins away from home in a team's first 19 tries.
Sixteen road wins in 19 games is an eye-popping stat, as New Jersey is 16-2-1 away from The Rock this season. If they were able to find more consistency at home, where they are just 11-10-2, they would be running away with the Metropolitan Division.
Fortunately for the Devils, who seem to love being away from Newark, the team's next three games are also on the road, starting with the Kings on Saturday night.
