Boomer said last week that the Giants may have a “problem” in Kayvon Thibodeaux, who is not looking like the player he or the Giants thought he would be.

In fact, he threw out a name that will make New York football fans cringe, a former sixth overall pick that the Jets thought would become a dynamic edge rusher.

“I’m gonna give you a name: Vernon Gholston,” BT said, before turning his attention back to Thibodeaux. “You’re an NFL football player, a defensive lineman, and your job is to go get the quarterback. And you can’t do it. When you came out of school, it was all about your brand…This is how these teams get stuck in these situations taking guys that have reputations coming out of school that they’re gonna be the best because they’ve been telling everybody how good they are, and then you get him in the building, you go, ‘This guy is strange. This guy is not committed to his craft.’

“I think he’s a bright guy, and has a really good personality when things are going well, but obviously, he’s not happy about something.”

Thibodeaux drew speculation and criticism when a video posted by Giants superfan “License Plate Guy” showed the defensive end sitting at the end of Big Blue’s bench, looking down towards the ground as several members of the team celebrated a touchdown on the other end, as New York was orchestrating its historic comeback. It may be nothing, but Gio worries that it could be another step towards the “bust” label.

“He is a guy that you feel like, if he doesn’t get it going soon, that bust word is gonna be attached to him,” Gio said. “And he doesn’t seem like somebody who is going to handle it very well.”
