Boomer is going with the Vikings in Sunday’s playoff bout with the Giants, but both he and Gio agree that whoever comes out on top, their fanbase is going to endure a lot of stress to get there.
“These teams, for the most part in what they’ve done this year, are evenly matched,” Gio said. “That’s why I think it’s gonna be one of the better games of Wild Card weekend. That’s why it’s a three-point spread.
“The way these teams play football and win games, you’re going to see another one of these dramatic finishes from one of them. That’s what’s going to happen. It’s going to be either a heartbreaking loss for the Giants or a heartbreaking loss for the Vikings, just like it was in the regular season with the 61-yard field goal that won the game for Minnesota.”
The Vikings beat the Giants at home on Christmas Eve on a game-winning field goal, but New York looks to be nearly fully rested and healthy for Sunday’s rematch, and the consensus of The Morning Show is that the game can go either way, but it will be close, which could play into the hands of the Giants.
“They play every game as tight. Every game is gonna be tight in the fourth quarter and every game is gonna be a slugfest,” Boomer said. “And there’s a way you coach games and manage games and make decisions in the fourth quarter to keep the game close…this head coach, this offensive coordinator and this defensive coordinator, this triangle of leadership that the Giants have, they are all war-torn, if you will. They’ve been through these games, these slugfests.”
Still, Boomer is taking the Vikings by a field goal.
