Boomer has warning for confident Giants fans: 'The Eagles are No. 1 for a reason'

Giants fans are feeling confident in their team’s ability to pull off another upset on Saturday against the Eagles, as Big Blue is fully healthy and playing their best football of late.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia could be playing with starting quarterback Jalen Hurts nursing a banged-up shoulder, and key offensive lineman Lane Johnson also battling injury. But despite those positive trends for New York, Boomer made sure to remind the fanbase that the Eagles are going to be a daunting opponent regardless of health and recency bias.

“The Eagles literally have one of the best rosters in the NFL,” Boomer said. “They’re right there with the 49ers…the offensive and defensive lines, four guys with double digit sacks. Daniel Jones is gonna have to be the guy he was last week.

“The Giant defense, which is 28th or 29th in the league, is facing a team that has two solid running backs, a tremendous tight end, two outstanding wide receivers, and the best offensive line in football. That’s why they’re the number one seed.”

Hurts will be key, as the Eagles haven’t looked like the same team since his injury, but after having the bye week to rest, Boomer believes Hurts will be a major factor for Philly, and Giants fans need to manage those expectations.

“If the quarterback is 100 percent healthy, he creates a whole other set of circumstances for the Giants defense,” Boomer said.

“The Eagles are No. 1 for a reason…they had a little bit of a stumble towards the end simply because Jalen Hurts got hurt. But he is very difficult to stop. Everybody’s just got to pump the brakes. It’s not gonna be an easy game by any stretch of the imagination.”
