A caller compared Tommy DeVito’s arm to Tua Tagovailoa, and Boomer had to pump the brakes on the DeVito hype after one promising performance against a lowly Commanders secondary.
“It’s a great story right now,” Boomer said. “Here’s the thing. You can’t just do it one week. You have to do it multiple weeks. It keeps coming at you. It doesn’t stop. It’s like a virus.
“Will Levis…all of a sudden, he can’t find his footing again. This is what happens.”
Boomer noted how overwhelmed DeVito looked in his first two NFL games, and the sacks he took against Washington that will have to be cleaned up. Still, while he doesn’t think it’s time to compare DeVito to an MVP candidate, he does say that the Jersey native deserves loads of credit for what he accomplished on Sunday.
“They caught Washington at the right time, he played his ass off,” Boomer said. “At the end of the day, you can’t take away that he won an NFL football game by throwing three touchdowns by standing in there. That was Jersey tough.”
