Amid Adam Schefter’s report that Russell Wilson stopped in New Jersey for an “exploratory meeting” with the Giants, BT and Sal tried to make sense of the fit.
“What the hell are the Giants gonna do with him?” BT said. “I mean, now if this was like where you could cut Daniel Jones and save money and have a veteran starter…and then you draft a kid, maybe, because I think I do think Russell Wilson would be good with a young player. I just don't think he could play anymore.”
The Broncos cut ties with Wilson after a disastrous trade two years ago, and while Sal believes the veteran and former superstar has more left in the tank, he doesn’t see how the addition would make sense with Daniel Jones in the fold.
“I'm not as down on him as everybody else, but how about that trade? It's one of the worst trades of all time,” Sal said. “But Daniel Jones is your starter. That's it.
“If he's not gonna start, I want the rookie to start. I don't want Daniel Jones not to start, and then Russell Wilson to start. If Daniel Jones wasn't a part of the equation, that's a different story.”
