BT wasn’t a big believer in the Giants improving upon last year’s record this season, and Sunday’s 40-0 loss to the Cowboys only enhanced his belief that the team simply isn’t good enough to compete this year, and are likely in for some sobering regression in 2023.
“That doesn’t work for me,” BT said in response to Sal not giving up on the Giants after one game. “The Giants are not particularly talented at all.
“The Giants are incredibly well coached, which is true, but that’s also code for massive disparity in talent from the teams you are chasing. Last year, in the divisional round, they lost 38-7. Last night, they lost 40-0…their offensive line is atrocious. I don’t think they’re good at all.”
For BT, Big Blue’s embarrassing defeat is a continuation of a trend that began last year, when the Giants were smacked around twice by the Eagles, the other premier team in the NFC East, so it shouldn’t be a surprise that they were once again outclassed by a team far superior in the talent department.
“You go back to the divisional round last year, it was varsity versus JV,” BT said. “Last night, it was just ugly…the Giants have been shellacked by good teams. The Vikings weren’t a good team. That doesn’t mean you don’t give them props for a road playoff win. You do. But for me, this is about amplifying the coaching job Brian Daboll did last year, and pointing to the stark difference in rosters.”
