The Giants have made their big moves ahead of Tuesday’s deadline, signing Daniel Jones to a four-year, $160 million deal that could include an additional $35 million in incentives.
Per reports, the salary for the first two years of the deal is guaranteed.
As a fallout of the Jones agreement, Saquon Barkley was given the franchise tag, meaning both will be back in New York next season.
For Craig Carton, he couldn’t believe the salary numbers for Jones, who is coming off of his best season after multiple years of mediocrity under previous coaching staffs.
“Dude just got a buck 60 with a chance to go to $185-95 [million] with extra incentives,” Craig said. “He’s gonna have damn near $100 million of it guaranteed…and he threw 15 touchdown passes. That it messed up.
“And by the way, good for him.”
Jones did indeed throw only 15 touchdowns last season, but paired that with only five interceptions while being one of the top running threats among quarterbacks in the league, which Evan made sure to point out.
“You’re just bringing up the one, cherry-picked stats,” Evan said. “You’re leaving out the rushing yards, the rushing touchdowns, and the lowest interception percentage in the league.”
