Kadarius Toney appeared to be on his way out in New York after his initial absence from Giants voluntary workouts was followed by reports of the wide receiver being on the trading block.

But those reports were emphatically reputed by general manager Joe Schoen during the NFL Draft last week, and on Tuesday, head coach Brian Daboll sang more praises for the sophomore wideout.

“KT has been great,” Daboll told Tiki and Tierney. “He’s been here, he’s been working, he’s been with the group.

“He's picking up things really well. He’s got a really good skillset. He's a good space player. He was a QB in high school…it’s still new to him, but You can tell he's an instinctive football player. I look forward to working with him.”

Toney will be one of many wide receivers that Daboll and Big Blue will try to unlock this season. Last year, Toney battled injuries and couldn’t find much success when on the field, while Kenny Golladay had a lackluster season after signing a big four-year contract. Daboll is counting on those receivers to study the playbook in the coming months and help the Giants open up their offense in 2022.

“You figure out what they do well and you ask them to do those things the best they can,” Daboll said. “We have a lot of different plays, and we can only run them if the guys know what to do. They have to put the work in, they have to spend the extra time studying with each other…if they know what to do, that gives them the opportunity to use their skillset.”
